Teen Parent Program
The Missouri Mentoring Partnership's Teen
Parent Program provides young women of child bearing age through 21 who are
expecting or are already parents, with the skills we all need to grow as
young women and moms. The program deals with issues of nutrition,
learning to cope with stress, preventative health care for you and the baby,
self-esteem, time management, and finding resources and support in Pemiscot
County. Being involved in the mentoring program also gives you
the opportunity to attend Parenting Classes, after school meetings with
other teen parents, community volunteer activities and other activities that
are sponsored by the partnership. We also help with safety issues by
providing car seats and baby beds. We offer community mentors who
provide support to the youth as they progress through the challenging times
of pregnancy and the first years of child rearing. Mentoring is a
nurturing process in which a more skilled or experienced person serves as a
role model to teach, sponsor, encourage, counsel, and befriend a less
skilled or less experienced person for the purpose of promoting their
personal development.
