History:

Delinquency Truancy Prevention Program 2002-2007

Deterring Youth From Crime
In 1999, Pemiscot County had more than 428 juvenile law offenses.

Youth who participate in positive activities and have nurturing relationships in schools, communities, and homes have more positive outcomes.

This program seeks to involve the youth and their family in overcoming the barriers that lead to youth crime and delinquency.  This program seeks to encourage citizenship skills and promote positive workforce for youth who are or are not involved in the juvenile court system.

About DTPP
DTPP will provide comprehensive services to youth ages 16 - 21 in Pemiscot County.  In order to provide affective service to each youth a personalized assessment plan will be developed to assist the youth in overcoming barriers which are impeding their attainment of educational and/or employment goals.

This will include strategies aimed at reducing the youths delinquency and/or drop-out rates of school age students.  This program will also contain innovative components that will help build self-esteem, respect of community, human relations, and positive employment opportunities.

Employment and Educational services will be provided to youth ages 19 - 21 such as job readiness training courses, conflict resolution, and anger management.

Each youth referred to this program will receive an individualized assessment of their needs.  This will address issues that are specifically suited to their own personal situation.

This program is funded through the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri.
