| History: Mentoring Youth Program 2000-2008 The Mentoring Youth Program was designed to help selected youth between the ages of 16 and 21 in out-of-home placement or experiencing other difficult life challenges, make their vision of becoming successful and contributing members of society a reality. The program was intended to: * Give disadvantaged teens an opportunity to succeed their potential. * Provide resources for continued education and career development. * Integrate partnerships which foster growth and development in the community. Youth Development is a process through which young people enter adulthood. All youth have the same basic developmental needs, and they all attempt to meet these needs. These needs are:
